Meeting called to order by Vice President John Holter, at 6:00pm at Round Up North, President Ken Lundberg was unable to attend.
Officers and directors present; John Holter, Ron Gaare, Tom Champaigne, Courtney Johnson, Marsha Holter, Darrell Thompson, Mike Zicus, Ron Pearson, Mick Killoren, Dennis Smet and Connie Pribnow.
Minutes of the January meeting approved on a motion by Tom Champaigne, 2nd Connie Pribnow, as they appeared in the newsletter.
Treasure’s and Financial Secretary’s report given by Ron Gaare, January’s starting balance of $5616.03, bills for both January and February of $1062.49 and $671.99,deposits of $7779.00 and $774.00 leaving and ending balance of $12,434.55, report approved on a motion by Dennis Smet 2nd Darrell Thompson.
Committee Reports: Habitat, Ron Gaare reported that we will again work on the Sandy Run this summer and will contact Dennis Pratt about the possibility of working on the Rocky Run. Legislative; Al Pribnow reported that AB 504 which would remove the DNR Secretary from being a political appointment is at this time not coming to the Assembly floor for a vote and asked that we contact Representative Huebsch at 888-534-0094 or 608-266-3387 asking that this bill be brought to the floor for a vote. Education; Dennis Smet reported that the aquarium at Superior had a little problem and lost some of the fish, and the one at Northwestern is doing fine.
Old Business: updating the fishing map has been delayed a little. Discussion of needing a new board member with two names mentioned and they will be contacted. Deferred discussion of club insurance till the March meeting. Discussion of the handicapped boat, decided that John Holter would be willing to see about interest and use his drift boat as a trial.
New Business: Spring clean up date set for April 26th with discussion of cleaning up Highway H this year, Ron Pearson will look into dividing up this stretch of road into manageable pieces. The appreciation dinner for last years project will be held at Round Up North along with the regular monthly meeting on April 28th. Discussion of fund raising and donations, with the President to send a letter to the Brule River Preservation group seeking a donation. Motion made and approved by Al Pribnow 2nd Connie Pribnow that the banner on our newsletter state that the club endorses and promotes catch and release. Connie Pribnow authorized to send thank you notes for the support we have received for the Family Fun Day. Also a motion made and approved by Darrell Thompson 2nd Marsha Holter that we endorse Al and Connie Pribnow to represent us at the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation.
